An Entrepreneur's Journey on the Navajo Nation

A self-taught entrepreneur, Diné Woman Sally Martinez founded her small business, Martinez Indian Arts, in Kayenta 35 years ago. Through her business she represents skilled Native artists producing sterling silver jewelry, textiles, traditional pottery, and baskets at events across the United States. While Sally feels her business creates opportunities for others, she’s also motivated by the desire to be self-reliant and financially sound. In this 90-minute virtual session, Sally will share her journey of creating a successful sole proprietorship on the Navajo Nation as well as her experience on how filing taxes and financial planning have benefitted her business.
