Join Pauline Joe, President of Accounting PAEs LLC, for a practical and easy-to-follow tax workshop designed specifically for Native entrepreneurs and small business owners. This 90-minute session breaks down complex tax systems into simple, understandable steps so participants can better navigate their responsibilities with confidence.
The workshop begins with a high-level overview comparing federal, state, and Navajo Nation tax requirements using decision trees and guided questions to help participants identify which taxes apply to their business. The session then focuses on key Navajo Nation taxes, including retail tax, junk food tax, and Business Activity Tax (BAT), with simple hands-on calculation exercises to build understanding. Finally, participants will explore state and federal tax basics, including Schedule C and Form 1040, using real-life examples such as receipts and sales scenarios to determine taxability.
A dedicated Q&A session will allow participants to ask questions and clarify real-world situations they may be facing in their businesses.
